Day 1: 


After your arrival we will transfer you to your hotel.

Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2: 


After breakfast we begin our half-day guided city tour which includes St Sophia Basilica, the Hippodrome and then two examples of great Ottoman Empire architecture, the Topkapi Palace and the Blue Mosque. Your guide will then take you through the Grand Bazaar where you can shop for almost anything, followed by a transfer back to your hotel.

Then, the choice is yours – learn to belly dance,  take a cooking class or relax at a traditional Turkish Hamam. These are 3 great and different choices of activity, each of which will take up most of the afternoon. Those who choose the cooking class may not need a meal tonight!

Day 3: 

Istanbul - Ankara - Cappadocia

This morning we will transfer you to the airport for your flight to Ankara, the Turkish capital where you’ll visit the Mausoleum of Ataturk and its nearby museum. There will be time for a short city tour.

Then you will depart by private car for Cappadocia, enroute travelling beside an enormous salt-lake before reaching the incredible rock formations of Cappadocia. Dinner tonight will be at your hotel.

Day 4: 


An optional balloon ride is available this morning, providing you a wonderful overview of the unique landscape and the famous ‘fairy chimneys’. After breakfast at the hotel, we begin our exploration of the region with visits to the Kaymakli Underground City, the open-air museum at Goreme and the fortress at Uchisar. Later there will be a chance to sample some excellent wines in Tursan, one of Turkey’s premium wine growing areas. Dinner tonight is at the unique cave restaurant in Cappadocia.

Day 5: 

Cappadocia - Konya - Pamukkale

Today we’ll have an early departure for Pamukkale. The journey will take you via the Sultanhan Caravanserai, an historic stop on the ancient Spice Route through Turkey, before arriving in Konya.  Here you will visit the Mausoleum of Mevlana, the originator of the Mevlevi Whirling Dervishes and now an important place of pilgrimage. Later we travel on to Pamukkale and the nearby thermal cascades.

Day 6: 

Pamukkale - Hierapolis - Kusadasi

Today begins with a tour of the ancient Roman city of Hierapolis.  The main feature is a sacred pool of thermal waters rippling over ancient Roman ruins. From her you will visit the Nekropol with its 1200 gravestones, and then the famous salt-lime cascades.

You’ll then continue driving to Kusadasi, via beautiful Selcuk where you will visit the Temple of Artemis – one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.

Day 7: 

Kusadasi - Ephesus - Kusadasi

This morning visit the ancient city of Ephesus, which contains some of the best preserved theatres and buildings from the Greek period.  Follow this with a visit to the House of Mother Mary who is supposed to have spent her last days together with St. John. In quite a change of scene, this afternoon attend a fashion show showcasing unique Turkish leather products, before visiting the historic village of Sirince to experience the cultural side of Turkey and to taste delicious hand made wines. Dinner will be at a local restaurant in Sirince.

Day 8: 

Kusadasi - Pergamum -Troy - Canakkale

An early departure this morning, heading towards Pergamum, one of the oldest civilised settlements, inhabited since pre-historic times but also the location of Ionic, Roman and Byzantine civilizations.  You’ll be able to explore  the acropolis and the Altar of Zeus. We’ll then continue our journey on to the ancient site of Troy, scene of the Trojan Wars, before continuing on to Canakkale.

Day 9: 

Gallipoli - Istanbul

From Canakkale you’ll cross the Dardenelles and arrive in Gallipoli where you will visit the World War I open-air museum, Anzac Cove, Lone Pine Cemetery, the Turkish and Allied trenches and tunnels, the Nek and Chunuk Bair. An emotional but rewarding day. Late this afternoon we drive on to Istanbul.

Day 10: 


After check-out we will transfer you to the airport or port for your onward journey.
